BISHOP VALERIE MICKENZIE, a native Houstonian, received Jesus Christ as her Lord and Savior at the age of 15, where she immediately started telling everyone that would listen about Jesus.
At the age of 22 she received the baptism of the Holy Ghost. She attended Revival Center C.O.G.I.C, where her Pastor Dorothy Brown allowed her to start a street ministry. Her father in the Lord Elder Horace Mills, and Evangelist Martha Mills assisted her and helped trained her in the ministry. This street ministry continued for 5 years.
In 2001 she became the founder of Well Women Ministries and started a radio ministry which started out as a women's prayer group with monthly newsletter going out once a month. The radio ministry gave her exposure in the Houston area, and newsletters that were sent out all over the United States gave her so much more, that she began traveling and taking speaking engagements in different cities and other states.
In 2002 she obeyed the Lord and started New Wells of Life Church. Service was held at the Hilton Hotel for 1 year, then God directed Bishop to a building on the north side of Houston and the doors were opened on February 1, 2003.
In 2003 Bishop started her first L.A.U.N.C.H. Team Outreach Ministry at Berry Elementary School, working closely with the principal and teachers before and after school with prayer and bible thoughts of the day. while studying for her Biblical Theology Degree.
In 2003 Bishop also started the H.U.G.S. Program (Helping Underprivileged Children Graduate Successfully). This school project consisted of back-to-school supplies, backpacks, uniforms, shoes etc.
In 2004 Bishop started the Food Pantry which fed 25 families a month with the help of dedicated members pledging $25.00 a month to buy food from Kroger's, H-E-B, and Fiesta.
In 2006 Bishop was led by the Spirit of God to go back to the neighborhood where she raised her children for the first 6 years of their lives. A second Outreach Ministry was started at Kelly Village Boys & Girls Club, every Wednesday she and her trained staff ministered the word of God. This ministry was a Youth Ministry that ministered to children age ranging from 6 years to 18 years of age.
Bishop married Apostle Don N. McKenzie Sr. Together as one they have taken their ministries to the next level, with Jesus Christ leading them all the way. The Lord has given them a greater vision and together with God on their side and much fasting and praying the vision is come to past.
In 2010 God gave Bishop and Apostle a vision to start a television ministry and they prayed and waited on God and the doors where opened, and they started "Getting A Breakthrough" television ministry. God moved from the first day of broadcast and the calls started pouring in and the television ministry has been blessed beyond what they could ever imagine.
In 2011 The Lord moved upon Bishop and Apostle once again and D & V Production was started. Since that time Pastor and Bishop have been traveling taking speaking engagements when and where God leads them to Go.
